The problem
Recruitment was eating the management team alive. Not the hiring itself. The admin around it. Sorting applicants. Phone tag. Booking interviews that never happened because the candidate didn’t turn up. Every open role pulled a manager away from the work they were actually paid to do.
What we found
Managers were doing the screening themselves, between other jobs. So screening happened late, or in gaps, or not at all. Good applicants went cold waiting. Weak ones made it through to interview because nobody had time to filter properly. The process wasn’t broken. It just had no owner.
What we did
We took the entire front end of recruitment off the internal team.
- Every applicant screened by phone, by us
- Suitable candidates offered a work trial on the call
- Trials booked, invitations sent, times confirmed
- Text reminders sent ahead of the trial to cut no-shows
- Only confirmed, screened candidates put in front of a manager
The manager’s involvement started at the work trial. Not before.
The result
Managers stopped spending their week on recruitment admin. They met candidates who had already been screened, already said yes to a trial, and had already been reminded to show up. Hiring stopped being the thing that ruined the week.
